PostSubject: [Tutorial] How to use Spirecraft Forums   [Tutorial] How to use Spirecraft Forums EmptyJanuary 2nd 2015, 8:07 pm

Seeing as there's been a bunch of issues with people navigating around the site, here's a bit of a tutorial for you.

SECTION I: The Basics

A thread is a new topic designed for members to respond to. Those messages posted in response to a thread are called posts. When you reply to a thread, you're posting in response to a topic.

On the homepage, you'll see that the Forum is broken into three main categories (Forum Overview, Spirecraft Community, General). These categories are broken into several individual forums.

When you open a forum up, you'll see there are individual categories called threads or topics. These items contain individual messages or posts that are made in reply to the topic.

SECTION II: Posts and Messages

When you reply to a topic, you can do "Post Reply," "Quick Reply," or "Quote."

To Post Reply, you're opening up a whole new page where you can write your response. This is typically if you're wanting to write using the full post editor.

To Quick Reply, you'll simply scroll down to the bottom of a page to write your reply to the topic. There will be a box where you can type in.

To Quote, you'll go to a post that you'll want to reply to and click the "Quote" button. That'll quote the person's message for you and take you to a page where you can reply specifically to that quote.

SECTION III: Private Messages

If you want to contact someone individually, or a group of people, you can do what's called a PM or Private Message. You'll see an option for that on a post that they've made or you can go to their profile and click "Contact" to send them a message.

Inbox: Your inbox is your storage of messages that you've received from other people.

Outbox: Your outbox is a box showing you if the person you sent a message to has read your message.

Sentbox: Your sentbox shows the messages that you have sent to other people and that they have read the message.

Savebox: Got something special you want to save? This is where the messages that you want to save go.

SECTION IV: Your Profile

Your Profile is a place where it's all about you. You have Visitor Messages, a main profile, your Statistics, your Friends, and Contact.

Visitor Messages is where other members can leave a quick comment or message to you on your profile.

The profile section is your basic information, which also includes a Chill Zone. Your Chill Zone is a place where you can make it all about you. You can put cool pictures or talk about yourself all you want! Let people know who you are and what makes you unique.

Your Statistics shows how many topics you've posted, the amount of posts you've made, and other cool things that the site tracks for you.

Your Contact is how members can reach you, which is also where they can go to PM you if they need to send you a quick message.

SECTION V: Your Avatar and Signature

An Avatar is also known as a Profile Picture. This is an image that can be used to identify you on the website. As long as it's appropriate, it can be anything that makes you unique and that people can get to know you with. You can change this icon at any time.

Your Signature is something that you can choose to display at any time in your settings. It will show up at the bottom of every post you make unless you choose to opt out. (*NOTE: Staff signatures are made to show that a member is a staff of the website. If you are caught using a signature made for the staff, you will have your signature shut off temporarily or permanently.)

CONCLUSION

Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments below and I'll answer any questions you might have on navigating around the website. I'll gladly help you out with anything you might need!
